PRESS
RELEASE - 10.04.08
You
are invited to the exclusive press launch of what will prove to
be one of the most distinctive and exciting events of the summer.
Durham Arts Festival is a new visual arts festival for the North
East that has been uniquely envisaged by a team of University students.
We will be introducing an impressive and varied programme of events
that include artists of international acclaim, such as Lee Miller,
John Foxx and Quentin Blake, community projects and workshops that
will engage a wide range of children and families across the county,
world premiers of international films, local artists, and ground
breaking lectures.
On
the 16th
of April we will celebrate this launch through a grand press stunt
involving the castle to announce a mystery PR scheme that will involve
thousands of people across the country. This will provide a unique
range of photo opportunities involving the castle at the start of
the event. The Vice-chancellor of Durham University will then speak
to those attending in the stunning senate chamber of the castle,
and, in honour of one of our artists, Judith Kerr, who is celebrating
the 40th
anniversary of her famous work 'The Tiger That Came To Tea', we
will be holding a grand tea party for all those who are present
such as you have never seen before. Providing yet more interesting
photo opportunities for all. The Vice-Chancellor of Durham University,
The Festival Organisers and Sponsors will all be available after
the event for questions. A full press pack, complete with photos,
quotes and explanations will also be handed out on the day. This
is an event that you cannot afford to miss.
We
look forward to seeing you there,
Harriet
Broadfoot
